If the community and visitors are looking for a place to slow down after the busy end of the Thanksgiving holiday there are plenty of opportunities to support local businesses right her in Salina.

After last week’s Parade of Lights, shops in downtown Salina have already begun with holiday festivities, including sales and events, many beginning on Friday and continuing into Shop Small Saturday and the rest of the weekend.

True Betty Boutique and Gifts, a women’s clothing shop at 108 N. Santa Fe Ave. began its holiday season last week with deals and sales. The Bath Pub, which offers specialized, handcrafted and individualized scented bath and body products, begins its sales festivities on Friday, with 15% off products bought and filled that day. The store is located at 109 S. Santa Fe. Ave., and information about its products can be found at thebathpubks.com.

Joining in the Friday specials train is Nature’s Art, 124 E. Iron Ave. The store will specializes in rocks and minerals from around the world. Nature’s Art is offering sales on green onyx pyramids, obelisks and spheres with a gift box included as well as small Las Choyas coconut geodes, hand-carved animals and Brazilian agate bookends.

For those looking to grab a bite while they shop as well as picking up a gift or two for someone there are at least two restaurants getting into the holiday spirit. Blue Skye Brewery and Eats said that anyone that purchases a gift card this week will be entered into a holiday raffle with a 64-oz growler, a custom glass and a $50 gift card up for grabs to the winner.

Martinelli’s Little Italy is offering a black Friday deal of its own with anyone purchasing $25 of gift certificates getting $25 in certificates free on Friday only in person at the restaurant. The restaurant said there is only one transaction per person available.

Ending the night for Saturday, those shopping or visiting downtown can stop by Ad Astra Books and Coffee House for its 10th anniversary party, beginning at 7:15 p.m. The shop has music by New Time Bard and Don Wagner and Friends. It will also be offering its Cause Latte, the Birthday Cupcake. With each one sold, $1 will be donated to the shop’s moving fund as it begins its new life a few doors down in the coming months.
