IPA Educational Supply in Springfield announced it will be closing shop this summer after 47 years in business.
IPA Educational Supply has been a trusted source for teachers and parents looking to buy educational books, games and classroom supplies over the years.
Owner Amy Greene took to IPA Educational Supply’s Facebook page on Tuesday to announce the closing of the store.
Greene told The News-Leader that the pandemic has been challenging for many retailers, including her business. Greene also said that her decision came when she got an offer to sell the building at 2404 W. Kingsley St.

“You build relationships with people when you’re in a small business, and those relationships grow and you become friends,” Greene said. “There’s a lot of emotions — sad, but kind of excited about the possibility after.”
IPA Educational Supply is expected to close its doors mid-August but is having a sale starting Thursday on all products in the store.
Greene declined to say who is purchasing the building or what they plan to do with the space.
Greene took over the business from her parents, Earl and Donna Howell, who opened it in 1976.
